A BRIGHT FUTURE FOR PEEL SUNSET BOWLING CLUB
Peel Sunset Bowling Club has upgraded the electrics and floodlights around its green thanks to grant assistance from Manx Lottery Trust.
The old lighting has been in use for many years and has deteriorated to the point where it is difficult for players to accurately judge distances when practicing and playing at night.
The new lighting and electrical work has been completed and the club hosted a switch on celebration to mark the occasion.
Lynda Wilson, Secretary of Peel Sunset Bowling Club, said: ‘Previously, most of our club members played in the daytime, but we hope that the new lighting will encourage more people to pop along during the evenings. Hopefully the extended playing hours will also encourage new members who would be very welcome to join us.
‘On behalf of the whole club, a huge thank you to Manx Lottery Trust for helping us with this project. The switch on was a fantastic event for the club and we look forward to continuing using the facility to promote the sport to new players.
The lights will also be used during evening competitions held for the club’s junior section which is growing in popularity.
Lulu Gillow, Chair of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘Peel Sunset Bowling Club is part of the Island’s sporting community and we were pleased to support the lighting project, which will help current members and encourage new ones to join.’
