IOM COMMUNITY FOUNDATION - VITAL SIGNS RESEARCH FINDINGS
The Isle of Man Community Foundation has published its Vital Signs research findings.
The Community Foundation is a new initiative to develop effective philanthropic giving on the Island. With the support of the Manx Lottery Trust, work commenced in June this year on the first Manx social research.
The research used the Vital Signs framework, and assessed the Isle of Man along ten themes including: fairness, arts, culture and heritage, environment, safety, healthy living, work, housing and homelessness, education and learning, strong communities and local economy.
Sophie Pearce from the Isle of Man Community Foundation stated ‘Our initial research shows that there is a hidden issue of social deprivation on the Island that would surprise most people. It is important to document what people experience on our Island so that we can direct help to where it is most needed. Vital Signs has helped many Community Foundations in the UK and we want to do the same over here’.
