MANX LOTTERY TRUST AWARDS GRANT TO SCOUTS ASSOCIATION ISLE OF MAN FOR SCOUTING IN SPECIALIST UNITS IN SCHOOL PROGRAMME
Manx Lottery Trust has announced that it has awarded Scouts Association Isle of Man a grant of £2,450 to fund the expansion of their Scouting in Specialist Units in School Programme.
The Scouts Association has previously introduced their programme to the additional needs unit and Castle Rushen High School, where it was met with great success. This grant will enable the program to be extended to Ballakermeen, St Ninians, and UCM, benefiting an estimated 33 children.
The grant from Manx Lottery Trust will allow the Scouts Association to provide their activities, including archery, bushcraft, fishing, gardening, and climbing, to a broader range of students across multiple high schools on the island.
Guy Thompson MBE, from Scouts Association Isle of Man, said: "We were thrilled with the success of our program at Castle Rushen, and we are now delighted to be able to roll this out to more students across different high schools on the island. These activities are aimed at helping build skills, but most importantly, they are about having fun."
Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: "We are pleased to be able to assist the Scouts Association Isle of Man with a grant to extend this great initiative and wish it every success. The Scouting in Specialist Units in School Programme aligns with our mission to support local communities and provide opportunities for personal and social development of our island’s young people."
The grant provided to Scouts Association Isle of Man was awarded through the Manx Lottery Trust's Smaller Grant Programme. This program aims to assist organisation support local communities with grants ranging between £300 and £2,500.
