MANX LOTTERY TRUST GRANTS £1,418 TO NO TRUMPS BRIDGE CLUB FOR NEW BRIDGE MATES

Manx Lottery Trust is pleased to announce a grant of £1,418 to No Trumps Bridge Club to support the purchase of new Bridge Mates. This funding will enable the club to acquire a set of eight Bridge Mates, a reliable and approved scoring system for bridge games.

No Trumps Bridge Club, established in January 2023, initially adopted a mobile phone-based scoring programme in an effort to modernise. However, the app has proven problematic for many of the club’s older members, who find it difficult to use, see, and understand.  Many of our older players do not have the latest mobile phones and struggle with mobile phone technology.

Ruth Douthwaite from No Trumps Bridge Club expressed appreciation for the grant, saying: “We are incredibly grateful to Manx Lottery Trust for this funding. The new Bridge Mates will address the difficulties our members have faced with the previous scoring programme. These tried-and-tested devices will provide a reliable and user-friendly scoring system, ensuring that all our members, regardless of age, can enjoy the game without issues.

Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: “We are delighted to support No Trumps Bridge Club with this grant. It’s clear that the new Bridge Mates will significantly improve the experience for the club’s members and address the issues they’ve encountered with the current scoring system. We hope this funding helps the club continue to thrive and provide an enjoyable environment for all bridge enthusiasts.”

The Smaller Grants Programme is available for grants of between £300 and £2,500. We aim to fund projects that address the issues, needs, and aspirations of local communities and people.
