MLT SUPPORTS PEEL SUNSET BOWLING CLUB WITH THE PURCHASE OF NEW GREENKEEPING MACHINERY
Manx Lottery Trust has awarded £9,661 to the Peel Sunset Bowling Club to support the club with the purchase of new greenkeeping machinery.
The Peel Sunset Bowling Club, which has more than 80 members, has been a cornerstone of the Isle of Man community since 1934, offering a place for its members to come together, compete, and enjoy the camaraderie of crown green bowling. Situated at the end of Peel Promenade, the club's inviting space has become a hub for people of all ages to connect and enjoy the sport. The club also offers free coaching to newcomers and hosts numerous open competitions throughout the season.
The Manx Lottery Trust grant will specifically facilitate the purchase of a specialised greenkeeping machine which will serve the functions of scarifying, verticutting, and mowing. The all-in-one solution aligns with the club's pragmatic approach to maintaining its green which is also open to non-members, including visitors to the Island.
Spokesperson from the Peel Sunset Bowling Club said: ‘The Peel Sunset Bowling Club is thrilled and very appreciative of the support from Manx Lottery Trust. This grant marks a pivotal moment in our club's history as it enables us to invest in modern greenkeeping machinery, which will not only enhance the quality of our playing surface but also secure the continuity of our operations for years to come. We are thrilled to continue fostering a sense of community through the game of bowls.’
Stephen Turner, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘The Peel Sunset Bowling Club has stood as a testament to the power of community engagement for nearly nine decades, and the Trust is delighted to play a small part in its journey by supporting the acquisition of essential greenkeeping machinery, contributing to the club’s legacy as a welcoming and vibrant local sporting institution.’
