NEW SHED FOR SOUTH RAMSEY BOWLING CLUB
South Ramsey Bowling Club will be able to improve its storage facilities thanks to a grant from Manx Lottery Trust.
The funding boost of £22,500 will be used for the re-build and extension of a green keeper shed at the club based in Ramsey.
The club’s existing green keeper shed was built in the 1980s and was fit for purpose at the time as there was a limited range of equipment needed for a bowling club. However, the club over time has purchased a number of expert machines to help maintain and improve the bowling green, which should be stored in a safe and secure unit.
A rebuild of the existing shed, which is currently deteriorating with damp issues, will allow for the storage of several machines, additional reels, liquid sprayer, granular spreaders and fertilisers, and also any other materials required to maintain the club’s bowling green.
Alan Moore from South Ramsey Bowling Club said: ‘Our current green keeper shed has certainly served its purpose since it was originally built, but it no longer meets the needs of a modern bowling green. We have evolved over the years to coincide with the developing technology created for bowling clubs, and our facilities need to reflect this to ensure we keep the team and members happy!
‘We’d like to say a huge thank you to the Manx Lottery Trust for the generous funding, which will go a long way in ensuring our club has a long and prosperous future.’
Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘We were very pleased to support South Ramsey Bowling Club with the rebuild of a new green keeper shed, which will certainly help its longevity as a club and community hub.’
This grant is from Manx Lottery Trust’s Community Awards Programme. Manx Lottery Trust has been delegated to distribute National Lottery money from The National Lottery Community Fund. To find out more, visit: www.mlt.org.im
