MANX ADVENTURE & EXPO TO EXPAND OUTDOOR ACTIVITY OFFERING
Manx Adventure & Expo, a community group for outdoor enthusiasts, will be broadening its range of activities thanks to Manx Lottery Trust funding.
The grant of £30,200 will support the club in acquiring essential equipment to expand its range of land and water-based activities. This includes acquiring safety kit for hill walking, climbing, gorge walking and coasteering, along with a trailer and a set of sea kayaks to suit individuals with a range of needs and abilities.
Funding will also support volunteer training in outdoor instruction, covering outdoor first aid and sea kayaking qualifications, ensuring the safe and diverse provision of activities.
Jay Thompson from Manx Adventure & Expo said: ‘Manx Adventure & Expo provides opportunities for the community to explore and enjoy the natural world. Over the years we have successfully facilitated hundreds of outdoor events. However, to meet the growing demand and cater to an increasing number of members, the club faces a significant shortage of equipment.
‘With this grant, we can now purchase essential kit that will enable us to offer an even wider range of inclusive outdoor activities. It's a giant step towards achieving our goal of fostering a deep connection with nature and adventure within our community and ensuring that everyone is given the opportunity to experience the great outdoors. Manx Adventure & Expo would like to extend our appreciation to Manx Lottery Trust for their generous support.’
Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, added: ‘Manx Adventure & Expo embodies the spirit of adventure and inclusivity, and the Trust is delighted to play a part in expanding their outdoor activity offering. This grant not only bolsters their equipment inventory but also invests in the knowledge and skills of their dedicated volunteers.’
