PORT ERIN METHODIST CHURCH RECEIVES £28,425 GRANT FOR COMMUNITY REDEVELOPMENT PROJECT
Manx Lottery Trust is pleased to confirm it has awarded a grant of £28,425. This funding will play a vital role in the redevelopment of the Port Erin Methodist Church hall, providing enhanced facilities for local community groups and a worship area.
The ambitious project aims to improve the existing Methodist Church hall, making it more accommodating for a wide range of community groups and serving as a meeting place for vulnerable and isolated individuals in Port Erin. In addition, the grant will contribute to the creation of a dedicated meeting room and fully accessible toilet facilities, ensuring inclusivity and increased accessibility for all.
Andrew Foxon, a representative from Port Erin Methodist Church, expressed his gratitude for the grant, saying, "We are incredibly grateful to the Manx Lottery Trust for their generous support. This grant will allow us to transform the hall into a space that meets the diverse needs of our community. It will not only benefit existing local groups but also provide a safe and welcoming environment for those who may feel isolated or vulnerable in Port Erin. We are excited to see how this project unfolds and the positive impact it will have on our community."
The renovation work on the main hall, which is utilised by various community groups, as well as those in need of connection, will commence in the coming months. The meeting room and fully accessible toilet facilities will significantly enhance the church's ability to accommodate and support a wider range of activities, events, and individuals in the community.
Stephen Turner, Chairman of the Manx Lottery Trust, said: "We are pleased to provide this grant to Port Erin Methodist Church. We recognise the Church's commitment to fostering community connections and supporting the most vulnerable members of society. The Manx Lottery Trust is proud to play a part in the redevelopment of the current Methodist Church Hall and we look forward to witnessing the positive impact it will achieve."
While the overall project includes the creation of a new worship area, preliminary works for this have already commenced and are not part of the grant from Manx Lottery Trust.
