PORT ST MARY COMMISSIONERS OFFERED WARM SPACE AT TOWN HALL

Port St Mary Commissioners were awarded with a grant of £909 from Manx Lottery Trust for it to provide a warm space for the local community.

The grant from the Trust’s Community Warm Spaces Fund allowed the Commissioners to offer a warm space to residents during the winter period in the East Room, situated in Port St Mary Town Hall.

The grant assisted with costs for heating and lighting, provision of snacks, tea, coffee, board games and other items to entertain any people in attendance.

Haley Kinvig, Clerk of Port St Mary Commissioners, said: ‘Our warm space initiative was well received and we could not have offered it without funding support from the Manx Lottery Trust, for which we are very grateful. It was rewarding to welcome people in each week to know that we were giving members of our community a place to feel warm and comfortable during a time of high energy and food prices.

‘Special thanks go to Alan Grace and his wife Angie who gave up their time to run the warm space for the Commissioners.’

Stephen Turner, Chairman of Manx Lottery Trust, said: ‘We were pleased to support Port St Mary Commissioners, and hope that the warm space days were enjoyed by many.’

This grant was from the Manx Lottery Trust’s Community Warm Spaces Fund, which was funded by the Isle of Man Government. This grant programme ended on 31st March 2023. To see our other programmes head to: www.mlt.org.im/grant-programmes/
